BETA BETA BETA Beta Bern Beta is a national honor society for students interested in the biological 5(.;iences. The Alpha Mu Chapter at Western Maryland was chartered in 1934, under Dr. L. M. Berthalf. Each year a scholarship is awarded from lheMilton H. Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Activities planned for the year 1954-55 in- cluded completing work on the spring house and pond, arranging exhibits in the biology display cases, labeling the trees on campus, and a trip to the Army Medical Museum. Officers for the year were; Nancy McWilliams, president; Philip Lawyer, vice-president; Betsy Myers, secretary; Duvall Jones, historian; Dr. H. P. Sturdivant, treasurer and advisor. THE ARGONAUTS In a year in which the watchword of both students and faculty was the advancement of scholarship, the Argonauts recognized their in- creased responsibility in strengthening academic endeavor. The society is dedicated to the promotion of sound scholarship on the Hill, the recognition of those who have attained high scholastic standing, und the promotion of fellowship between stu dents of various departments and between stu- dents and faculty. Under the leadership of president Donald Hensler, ably assisted by Marilyn Rigterink, Mildred Eckardt, and Louis J\i"cD(>JIaltl, K. Manarin, the Argonauts strove Lo acquaint the 'ant, C. Davis, i\"I.
