It consists of a group of Baptists who have organized at Western Maryland for Christian fellowship with other members of their faith. The first meeting was held on November 11, 1953. Previous to this gathering letters were sent out to all Baptist students in which aims and purposes for this proposed organization were stated. Included also in the letter was an invita- tion to all those interested in attending. After the organization of the B.S.U. was com- pleted, an excellent speaker was invited from the Southern Baptist Convention. The speaker, Mr. Newton, came and brought many ideas to the group. Literature was given out and is now being used for the furthering of its activities.
