TRILOGY PLUS
A wh iskered sun
With yellow toothpaste smiles
Sheds blinking towers
Of light to earth
To announce the arrival
Of the Sunshine Hour
And shout the scream
Of life's inuring power.
A cormorant moon
With jutting cornerless edges
Peers from the night
Above
Casting white church-stained
Aisles of light
To ensnare the bathing shadows
Of death's enduring plight.
A selfless effigy
With formless, faceless thoughts
Listens for the tread
Of hope from somewhere
Amid a mind's choking coughs
To salvage the remains
Of a sunset's closing lids ...
Waiting for dawn to wink.
