ALVA HEATH BENDER History "Chief' Kitzmiller, Maryland Western Maryland Preparatory School Webster Literary Society; Y. M. C. A.; Bach- elors' Club; W. A. G. S.; Varsity Track Team, '25; Class Football, '22; Class Basketball, '22, '24, '25; Class Baseball, '22, '23, '24; Vice- President Officers' Club. "T 0 live in hearts we leave behind, Is not to die." ., CHIEF" is known to his friends on the "Hill" primarily because of his ability to make things that are dry and uninteresting suddenly blossom forth with pep and vivacity. No party can be long dull or no com- pany dry if "Chief' happens to be in the midst. He is a good sport, is bubbling over with fun and always sees the joyous side of life. Nor is he content with life until he has infused some of its joys and hilarity into his pals. "Chief" is a good cure for \he blues. During the time that he has been at college he has never allowed anything or anybody to cause him not to get the full measure of happiness out of life. And whenever you meet him you can always see a mis- chievous twinkle in his eye and feel the thrill of perfect enjoyment. In the social realm Bender is always at home, and it can be proved without a shadow of a doubt that one of the reasons for the gentle and playful disposition of "Chief" lies in his success in finding inspiration among the co-eds. To sum up, we can say that "Chief" is always ready for fun and to lend a helping hand, and both of these characteristics spring forth from the source of a big and generous heart of brotherly love.
