PORCELAIN PEOPLE

 A delicate, budding flower
       in the strong wind blow.

 So does a child,
       in the ghetto grow.

The soft, wet clay
       likened to the child's mind.

The soft, wet clay
       is taught to be unkind.

The supple, moist potter's clay
       becomes brittle and concrete.

in the wretched, burning kiln
       of the ghetto's oppressive street.

The pottery is burdened,
by the loads of it's maker.

The pottery is broken,
and called defective by it's breaker.

The pieces are left to degenerate,
      and to disintegrate into dust.

But china shared the potter's fate,
for they, too, in eternity's must.
