THE SEARCH FOR SELF

Look through the eyes
to the final depth of the soul
through the lingering cries
and unhealed wounds
past the barbs erected to guard
which only inflict more damage
Finding the core may be hard
but the center must be uncovered
once it is grasped, pull it out
away from the contradictions
save the soul from the cloud
of fear and uselessness
Find it quickly
or the seemingly solid exterior
will deteriorate and crumble completely
while you look on.
