into the vicinity and saw Bjorn's plight.

Spying the loathesome pygmies, the scout leader shouted, "Here's your
chance boys! Now you can all earn merit badges for Murder and Pillage!" With
evil relish, the scouts surrounded the pygmies and gathered them into a whimper-
ing, orange-blue huddle. Out of their knapsacks the boys drew flame throwers,
iron maidens (complete with vultures), huge pregreased skillets, a fold-up, pocket-
size bulldozer, and an assortment of other horrid devices. Then with a hearty
"Good luck!" from the scoutmaster, they went to work.

Such a clamor has never been heard before. In a trice, nothing remained of
the pygmy horde. True to the Boy Scout code, the scouts cleaned up after them-
selves and let nothing go to waist -- they distributed pygmy'soup throughout the
countryside and sent hundreds of pygmy hides to Max's Morocco Shop on the
other side of the woods.

All this time Bjorn had been sitting on a branch of his oak tree house,
laughing and shouting advice to the scouts. When all was over, he climbed down,
entered his house, and locked the door behind him. Donning his cowboy suit
again, he quietly slipped into town to sneak another look at the mayor.
