ON HOW ONE WOMAN BECAME
MORE MYTH THAN HUMAN
BY STEFAN SPECIAN
The intangibility of my infatuation left me empty,
so I converted a human to an idea
An idea that permeated my subconscious, of a
fragile love too short in time and too ruined
by my flaws, my foibles, my sins ... alas it was
a falsehood, a creation of my utter denial
Reality will always disappoint the habitual dreamer-
it will leave him alone against the hungry beasts
and slice his arteries and veins, to create the
spurting, open wounds he'll bandage and hide
It had never been a rosy time, nor had it been
even close to divine, it was tumultuous and brief,
like a hurricane breaking up upon landfall upon the coast-
but to accept that was the defeat I feared the most
For the great damage wreaked was too widespread,
too deep and septic the wounds it had left
that it made no sense, the scale had been tipped
too far to one side, when I wanted it to balance
She became an idea, or a larger theme of loneliness,
of misery - perhaps she still is it would seem.
But they say all memories are simply constructs
so I suppose, it's come time to construct anew,
and let the old and toxic simply ... implode.
