CHALK HEART Rachel Stecyk
I drew a yellow heart with shattered chalk
To pass the time until the hour struck
And when the time had gone I slid the aged
Eraser across the cool green board. My hand
Brushed past the fading heart and on it bits
Of palest pastel yellow chalk accrued _
Bits of my heart, like ink, smeared off a love letter.
