I awoke on a moon-cratered hill
to a crisp white sun in a sharp
cloudless mid-afternoon autumn sky -
listened to a lone truck roll by, lifted
my face, my arms, closed my eyes, stretched
to fill all that empty space.
I drove a dreamless night
all the way to California, walked
through your front door
into a dark room.
I dream of Wyoming. I filled
that cloudless sky.
