My sister is cutting my hair.

As she does, as she always
does, she is speaking in
what ifs. What if, she says,
we watch the same movie
again? What if I
didn't have freckles? What if
Grampa were still alive?
What if I wear those pants?

I want to say - baby doll,
don't be ridiculous. What difference
could it possibly make
if you choose black
instead of brown?
What impact on the universe
to ask for the impossible?
