The Morning After
Prologue
come
to think of it, you have
become
an obsession...
I. Practice
I collapse
under the weight of my
liquid legs, crumpled
like a silk flower on the floor
and look to you,
prone behind the backlight.
You steal breath under hard labor,
fighting to clear a route
directly to your heart for its chill.
I watch you, wanting
to touch you, but you threw
me off before-
I wonder in my cloudy mind
if you will remember
the night that quickly passes,
the evening of wine and ecstasy.
I wonder if you will rise
from the floor and help me recover ...
(my body is battered
like well-worn leather. The bruises
are natural imperfections and in no way
interfere with the quality of the product.]
II. Random
(i thought, waiting-)
''someone has fallen-down/ down-and i thought he might rise again strong body
touching fate by accident by ignorance i remember him now in the hour of my
death and i pray and i wonder if he's thinking of me if he knows where i lie-
- i should have fallen for him. "
