Dragon Kite Playground

In my childhood days, I lived near a large playground.
                       I carne here with a 45 ft.long dragon kite.
Horne was only a short walk away
and the sky here was ours alone.
The only sounds were the wind, my yells of joy
and the roar of the Dragon.
No trees to tangle the string.
                       No children to distract me.
No other kites with whom to share the sky.
Just I and my Dragon in flight.

But such freedom cannot last forever.

                       On our last day together,
I turned to hear the siren call of a passing ambulance.
                       When I looked back,
I felt a moment of horror.
The Dragon's head was severed from its body.
A clean cut made by a medieval dragonslayer
                      and my joy was ended.
                      The Dragon died
and I have not been back to the playground since.

Man is incomplete because we cannot fly.

Fifteenyears later, through a twist of Fate, I saw my Dragon's
                      soul in a different body
and I know I will return to the playground.
But this time, there will be two of us.
                      Me and her,
the only one with whom I could share the Dragon.

                     I will be happy again.

                                                                   Chris Fernandez
