faceless
Afraid to blink against the face of the night,
I want to soar over the pale face of the world
And see the universe-face to face-warm and ancient.
Sometimes the depth is wrong, half-faced distortion;
The darkness of tonight is smooth against my breath;
Aching ground sends brilliance through my shoes ...
As something dances across the upturned face
Of my bewildered urgent understanding,
I run or fall against it, and so tilting
Dangerously over the sheer face of nothing, I
Will feel the touch of glory on my face, and
close my eyes with joy, and unafraid
