The first major show of the year was the Drama Department's production of Together. an arrangement of five one- act plays by different authors Here We Are, by Dorothy Parker, ex- amines the honeymoon trip to two new- lyweds who don't really have anything to talk about A Social Event, by William Inge, draws a caricature of a Hollywood act ing couple who desperately want to be invited to the "right" funeral. Talk to Me Softly like The Rain, by Tennessee Williams, portrays two disso- lute and drained people, searching for a new life and meaning. The loveliest Afternoon of the Year, by John Gaure, is a hilarious yet poi- gnant look at the absurdities of urban life and civilization. Something Unspoken. by Tennessee Williams, shows the hidden truths, the unspoken feelings, behind the relation- ship of a powerful southern society wid- ow and her graying spinster secretary. All five short plays are centered on the theme of relationships, of the feel- ings, circumstances, and worlds which two people may nave in common. To- gether is about sharing and hoping, the building and breaking down of walls.
