The Argonauts As the honor society of Western Maryland College, the Argonauts were interviewed this year by a Phi Beta Kappa evaluation committee, with the goal of establishing a chapter of that national honor society on campus. At the annual induction ceremony, this year on May 7, a number of seniors and juniors were added to their membership, with an address by Western Maryland alumnus Ronald Liebman, a prominent Maryland lawyer. Following the induction ceremony, a reception was held in McDaniel Lounge for all Argonauts, guests, and faculty. Beta Beta Beta Tri-Beta. the national biological honor society on campus, fea- tured lectures by faculty members at their meetings this year. To add variety to their bi-weekly gather- ings, this honor society went roll- er skating, threw a wine and cheese party, and had its annual picnic at Harvevstone. In a more serious vein, the Tri-Betans spon- sored a blood-pressure screening booth at the Spring Carnival. Un- der the capable leadership of President Dave Taylor, Ttl-Beta maintained its tradition of being an active honor society. 56
