Students could dream of a White Christmas, but warm sunshine made seasonal plans seem somewhat premature. Soon after returning from Thanksgiving, decorations began to ap- pear, brightening the campus. Bells were hung from Carpe Diem, evergreens grew in numer- ous places which they do not normally inhabit, and windows acquired scenic vistas. The annual tree lighting ceremony followed by an informal reception in McDaniel Lounge ushered in the season. The days ahead were packed with activity, highlighted by the Christmas Dance, parties of all descriptions and the Christmas Banquet. Senior caroling climaxed the merriment with a 4:00 a. m. tour of Westminster. The banquet, for the most part a refined and somewhat elegant affair, was thrown into an uproar by entertainment provided by the waiters and waitresses. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" was presented, complete with props ranging from yellow hula hoops and rubber plants to large and somewhat rambunc- tious ducks and geese. A rather dilapidated and clean-shaven Santa Claus added to the hilarity. Concensus was that Santa was outdone only by his colleague of the year before, who showed up with two black eyes glowering over his whiskers. Following the traditional tree lighting ...
