Planning and building a Hawaiian Paradise absorbed much time as the Class of 1959 pre- pared to pay its respects to the Class of '58. Overnight Gill gymnasium was transformed into a brilliant tropical garden-a miracle per- formed with more than the usual amount of fun, foolishness, and frustration. To an acute observer, only one incongruity was noticeable. Many genuine "evergreens" could be seen among the palm trees and Rowers, but these were the only natural greens which the search party was able to locate in the cold month of March. Members of the dec- orating crew will also recall an incident which almost brought severe repercussions. Some prized white birch logs belonging to an esteemed member of the college "hierarchy" were mistaken for driftwood, and during the chaos of decorating, were painted violent shades of the sunset. On the night of the dance, couples found themselves whirling about gigantic trees be- side a beach bathed by the setting sun. Large baskets of tropical Rowers and numerous coco- While some pulled ...
