JAMES OGDEN FRANK STEPHENSON GRUVER MARTIN Who's Who On the basis of character, scholarship, leadership in extra- DORIS VANSANT curricular activities, and potentiality for future usefulness in business and society, ten members of the Senior Class were chosen to represent Western Maryland College in the 1948-49 edition of Who's Who Among Students in Ameri- can Universities and Colleges. The Student Activities Committee of the college selected from the ranks of the Senior Class those who were to re- ceive this national honor-Phyllis Alexander, Betty Amos, James Cotter, Dorothy Gamber, Edgar Hammersla, Gruver Martin, James Ogden, Frank Stephenson, Barbara Sowers, and Doris Vansant-students who have been leaders in such activities as the Student Government Association, Student Christian Association, campus publications, sororities and fraternities, the Sunday School, and both men's and women's athletics. A biographical sketch of each of these seniors will appear in Who's Who, listing their accomplishments, abilities, and interests. They may also take advantage of the aid in em- ployment opportunities provided by the publishers, who maintain a placement service which recommends students to employers seeking capable college graduates. 94
