25TH ANNUAL “BOOKS SANDWICHED IN”
This year we celebrated the 25th annual “Books Sandwiched In” community
event at McDaniel College with Jane Sharpe, Associate Librarian Emerita,
sharing her book recommendations for approximately 60 attendees.
READ POSTERS
In celebration of National Library Week, we created the 1st annual READ
Posters, featuring library advocates President Roger Casey; the Green Terror; Dr. Corey Wronski-Mayersak, English
Department; Karen Violanti, Erin Giles, and Bethany Britton, First Stop Office; Hannah Krauss, Junior; and Linsdey
Franks, Junior. These posters honor our campus ambassadors, and promote reading throughout our community.
BEOWULF CELEBRATION
Hoover Library and the English Department collaborated on a Beowulf celebration and read-a-thon, where
students read the epic poem aloud, as it was intended, and created visual interpretations of the medieval text.
RESEARCHER IDENTITY EDUCATION: ORCID
Faculty were introduced to ORCID (a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs). We also
created a research guide on “Managing your research identity” with more information about ORCID and other
author identifiers: http://lib.hoover.mcdaniel.edu/research_identity
TRAVELING EXHIBIT
Special Collections partnered with Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) to loan author Jennifer Crusie’s
3-D collages from the Nora Roberts American Romance Collection to HACC’s Gettysburg campus. Students in
English courses at HACC created their own collages and displayed them in an on-campus exhibition.
