WIND

BY TYLER VAN DYKE

As yet another leaf falls from the tree
 This one-a crimson maple-languid
 drops.
I wait until another shall be free.

I wish that autumn too would give
to me that liberty, to fly from
auburn tops As yet another leaf
falls from the tree.

Forever trapped on frigid ground I'll
be. Before the ceaseless leaf-fall
Winter stops, I wait until another
shall be free.

Still sitting here I feel the enticing
breeze

Of Autumn wrap me coldly, leaves
aloft- As yet another leaf falls from
the tree.

Alone with falling leaves-I plainly
see That I remain, but others linger
not:
I wait until another shall be free.

To move so freely, that my wish will
be- To soar above the russet
mountaintops.
As yet another leaf falls from
the tree I wait until another
shall be free.
