aWake
by Ange Tremain
I did not have two black dresses; only one
So, laying it aside
I stepped into the blue
I had not meant it to be that bold royal shade
I wished for a mournful navy
Even a controlled maroon
But my closet had nothing more to offer
I knew it was right when I caught
you smiling up from the satin pillow
atme
and your favorite color I wore
I too smile on thinking what
a brilliant spectacle I will be tomorrow
the blue stepping among the gray.
