Half Love

I'm left, stunned and alone, by someone who
never held my heart to break.
How badly I was torn, but you never knew
that ignorance could cause an ache
that clenched for so long, it seemed, that my
love for you might fade.
but every glimpse I got, when I
tried so hard not to see, made
me know that love is forever,
even when the one held so dear
in far-away eyes can never
realize it. Now I shun to hear
of my childish vows of eternal love, and
deny that /'II ever love you forever again.
