Youplayed in the sand           childhood.

and made wishes in puddles of
But the sand turns to dirt
and the pudilles grow muddy ..

Act One was fine

hut there is a whole play to be lived ..
Reweave your pigtails into a black negligee
that drapes your moonlit breasts.
Let the flow of a ·waman wash away your Raggedy Ann ..
Let it stain your mind with te.nsi"n.

And on a night when it is very dark
and when the wind pounds you
wi ththe weight of a rusty wor1.d,
take out the rope

                               and hang your teddy bear ..
