MEDITATION
I have grown more quiet silent summer nights
And looked within, for parellel to calm
I find surrounding when the city lights
Wink our at last, allowing the beyond
To focus misty. Then mydreaming mind
Becomes a palette, and my thoughts the brush
That slowly colors day in hues defined
By filtered shades of light, as in the hush
Of darkness shadow through. The friendly night
Stills my patterned day-rush as I glide
Feather-like, atop and past the height
That opens up the worlds I know inside
And leaves me free. The peace I find is deep
And greets me smiling, as I fall asleep.

CRICKETS
a rush and fall of the wind
to closed eyes dreaming
like the moving tide
surrounds me now
as once your arms did carry me
sheltered through long quiet nights
the noises and rattles of development living
are home to me now
the air is muggy with lawn mowers and basketballs
my clothes stick to me, close, because
you are no longer here to loosen them
I listen very carefully to crickets
their steady call reminds me of your voice
and sometimes I think of you.
