A Sense of Self When attending a college as diverse as WMC, many say that they enjoy and take advantage of the opportunity to experience new cultures and value systems. Nevertheless, it is important to consider one's own religious and ethnic identity. There are a number of groups on campus which are designed to cater to this need. Several faiths are represented including Judaism, Baha'i, and Christianity. The Christian Fellowship is one such organization. Amy Sheriff says that the Religious groups purpose is "to provide a group fellowship for Christian students, and to and reach out to non-Christians." The Ministry offers Masses on campus and "promotes Catholic values to the Community." Cultural identity is just as important as religious identity for many students. The Black Student Union, according to President Calvin Lineberger, works "to unite all African-American students of WMC and foster an understanding of our culture to the W11C community." The BSU has worked hard this year to counter the deplorable racially- motivated vandalism and harassment which unfortunately took place on campus this year. Finally, the Spanish Club works to make everyone aware of the Hispanic culture. Members share an interest in the language, and put on many foreign films throughout the year.
