MEN'S BASKETBALL '\ Thought This Was A Great Season For Us.' Even though the Western Maryland College men's Basketball team was enjoying one of its best seasons ever, the 1981-82 Green Terrors failed to reach the MAC playoffs, While West- ern Maryland tied a school record with 16 wins against 7 losses, their 7-5 loop record wasn't enough to reach the league playoffs for a fourth straight time The Terrors split with section champ Dickinson, eventual fourth place finish- er Moravian, and Muhlenberg, while sweeping Lebanon Valley and Gettys- burg Doug Pinto paced the team in scar- ing with 15.5 points per game. He also tied John Seiler for the rebound lead at 5.2. Jeff Weyer became stronger as the season progressed. and earned a starting spot midway through the sea- son. He finishedfourth on the team in scoring and rebounding. Shooting guard Dave Engel aver- aged 10.8points per game and hit 53 percent of hisfield goals. Point guard Jim Dawson was the team's best shooter from the field, hitting 54 per- cent, and was second in scoring with 12.2points per game. Heosst-veo the team record for assists. Other key players included John Seiler,Scott Kohr.Jim Francis,and Joe Callahan. With just one more win not only would the team have set a new re- cord for wins in a season, but it would have evened its ten year record at the ,500 mark,
