I sent my Soul through the Invisible Some letter of that after-life to spell and by and by my Soul returned to me, and answered, "I Myself am Heav'n and Hell" This verse from the Rubaiyat has many interpretations but I use it as a backdrop to express some pieces of that puzzle called my Philosophy - a concern with the human experience in this life. - a belief that bad and good, right and wrong, are largely products of our environment. - an acceptance of a pragmatic approach to solving problems So that one will not mistake the whole pattern of my Philosophy as being pragmatist, I do have a faith in, love for, and almost religious fever to teach the importance of some fundamental values: freedom, justice, love and truth My advice to others or perhaps desire for all of us is that we - learn to listen and care - develop mutual respect - value life - seek meaningful relationships My most pleasant memories at Western Maryland College do not center around anyone event but around many seemingly insignificant instances - the joy of a student accomplishing a difficult task - the excitement of an athletic contest - the spontaneous laughter of a group in the residence hall - a lively discussion of issues around the dining hall table - a tear shed at a scene or part in a college drama The happiness of being a part of living Wray Mowbray
