Though Western Maryland promises to get bigger and bigger as time goes on, at this point, it remains a small college at heart. Changes have occurred gradually during the first cen- tury; now, at the beginning of the second, change is being accelerated out of the necessity to either grow or stagnate. Increasing liberality is needed to cope with the greater numbers and greater variety in the student body; flexi- bility and change will remain the key to Western Maryland's growth.
