Interfraternity Council The Interfraternity Council has concerned itself this year with the problems of an increased student body, fraternity unity on the Hill, and even the creation of a larger, more respected independent movement. Besides the usual administration and coordination, the IFC has revamped the Fraternity Cup system, established a fra- ternity housing committee, and sought a more active executive function for the four fraternities. There was even an IFC-sponsored Christmas dance that made money, leaving the council with the delicate problem of what to do with a surplus in the treasury. Due to an overall evaluation of its role, the IFC is about to embark on a new phase of its existence. In the future a more effective governing structure is envisioned with stronger decision-making power, as well as increased administrative and social coordination. Currently an in- vestigation is being undertaken to determine the advis- ability of revamping the present pledging and rushing policies. The IFC has attempted in this year of fraternity crisis to expand its role as a governing body for the four fra- ternities on the Hill.
