I The climax of the schedule proved to be the last game as the Green and Gold vied with Johns Hopkins for the Mason-Dixon grid crown. The Jays had built their attack around a highly-polished passing game while the West- minster team was, of course, most proficient on the ground. The crucial contest was, on paper, anybody's game. When the day arrived, an identical situation prevailed on the field. Western Maryland's only score came late in the opening quarter when Leo Lathroum bucked three yards to paydirt. Then Corrado's try for the extra point was blocked, the only time all season that this happened. That blocked kick made the difference in the end.
