TRACK WESTERN MARYLANDopened its third season of intercollegiate track and field competition with a team weakened by losses through ation. Washington, headed by Young, McMahon, Tully, and Kilby, had the twin advantages of experience and excellent condition- ing. Western Maryland's point-winners, however, showed. sufficient good form to give promise of a fairly well-balanced team for the remaining meets on Lhe schedule. The team appeared to be stronger in the track events, chiefly because of the presence of Bender and Fitzgerald in the sprints. and Holljes. Rouse, and Chase in the distance events. Lesinski. Lutkeuskes, Belish. and Andrews could be counted on for paints in the field events. In addition to the Washington College meet the "Terrors" had two other dual meets. Johns Hopkins University was met on May 4. at home, and Catholic University was met on May l l. at Washington. The Mason-Dixon Conference competition at Baltimore, on May 23. concluded the season. one hundred thirty
