The World of Darkness

When I was younger,
I hated my bedroom at night because
As the lights were turned out
My room transformed itself into a horror shop.

My closet was host to many scary characters,
Frankenstein, the Phantom of the Opera,
Dracula, and the Werewolf
Were packed into the small space
With a medley of other monsters
Patiently awaiting the moment for me
To turn my back and doze off to sleep
So.they could burst through the door and visciously
Bring to life all my worst nightmares combined.

And just outside my window,
L~rked the man bearing a Chinese mask
WIth yellow fingernails so long they curled around
themselves,
His evil laughter piercing the silence of the night
For as long as the moment of midnight lasted.

But I'm not quite sure what lived beneath my bed,
I thought that when I put my foot down
A million hands would
Burst out from underneath to grab my feet and
Pull me down into a black infinity.

How could I escape their evil world?
I was stranded on an island known as my bed
Surrounded by shark-infested waters
And the only safety was miles away
In my parent's bedroom.
