and the grumbling
of idling engines
lined up at a red stop
light, a thrilling
rarity, like a kid on a leash
or a dog wearing a hat or
some other small
absurdity I wouldn't expect
to delight in.
My own bewildered
smile, translucent
in the window,
startled me.
