Field of Buttercups

                                                          Lauren Beam

                     Warm Hands lead bare feet
Under starry skies living vivid dreams
                     Tickle words and bold hellos
                     Laughing farther than loving goes
                     Dancing in the summer weeds
                     Quietly watched by curious things
                     Tightly held in endless pace
See the moon fall on this place
                    Summer heat brings temperate nights
                     Running through fireflies in flight
Hushing the whispers of foreseeable fright
Warm Hands' grasp is getting tight
Silence now for feet have found
A soft place on the treaded ground
Where slowly come the careless sound
Of a deep young love unbound
                    Gently leading sights for seeing
Laid before two beings for being
                    Timeless movements, quiet and still
Vibrant souls ready to be filled
Grave misgivings lost in the wind
Give way to longings deep within
Hoping and praying to grow up
                    Among this field of buttercups
