They say McDaniel College is the school that changes lives. Felt like this would
be a good year to make that a reality, to flip the script and do something differ-
ent; breaking away from the monogamy and standards and reaching towards
something fresh and new.

Felt like sometimes we tend to sleep on a lot of things, when we know we can
make a difference but for whatever reason choose not to do so. Yet I look out
on this campus and I see nothing but potential waiting to be tapped into and
exposed to the world.

Wake up, oh sleeper, here is your chance. The first staff meeting regarding the
production of this magazine, to my own disbelief, consisted of myself and one
additional staff member. Iwas told that it would be okay to not produce a
magazine this year. I panicked, but I refused to take the easy way out. This
magazine came from pulling together young artists and aspiring poets, deter-
mined and dedicated members of the McDaniel College community, and mak-
ing the decision to do whatever it takes to produce "The A wakening. ))

No one deserves more recognition than my staff; I dedicate this magazine to
you, for without you it would not exist. I ca~ledupon you in my time of need
and you responded with open arms and dedicated yourselves and your time to
this craft. I could not have asked for more, and I assure you I will never forget
this. God bless you for making this dream come true. But I fear that the rest of
the world is still sleeping. Come, let's wake them up. This is The A wakening.
