Scrambled
It was Saturday,
Which meant Mommy made a big breakfast.
It also meant Daddy was home,
And we were on our best behaVior.
Julie and I were playing on the floor,
She on her side of the liVingroom, Ion mine..
Mommy liked that, because we didn't fight, and
bother Daddy,
Who was sitting in his chair, absorbed in his
paper.
"Mommy,what's for breakfast?"
She came in, Wipingher hands on a dishtowel.
"Scrambled eggs and bacon, it'll be ready soon."
Daddy looked up from his paper.
That look came on Daddy's face.
The way it tWisted, contorted,
You didn't want to be the one that caused
that look,
Or even be around When he got it.
"I told you I wanted fried eggs."
"I thought you wanted scrambled."
.He mashed the paper closed.
"Younever listen.
I work hard all week,
And you can't even make what I want for
breakfast. "
