                                       moving mountains.
                                       they grow; they fade.

                                                  rising and falling
like coils of a sea serpent.

the face of a baboon appears _
                                       there! an elephant -
                                       both swallowed by the undertow.

                                       'gator dives down,
                                                  as dragon climbs aloft.

                                       a cannon fires,
the ball races barely ahead of the gun.

soon hippo, then rhino, chases cannonball.

                                       images fade.

                                       darkness closes like a faint,
                                                  once again on moving mountains.

                                                                                  Mollie M. King
