NIGHTWINGS
Where do you go when you dream, my
lovely?
What moves you to unfurl your nightwings?
Do you soar on the solar winds beyond
the moon;
and is the morning star, veiled nonument
to your patroness,
your return beacon?
And can a wingless poet ride on your
shoulder
to whatever time and place, to whate"rer
unknown world,
to dance in whatever baroque ritual
celebrates
the redempt{on and renewal you find in
the night?
And if the would be poet promises to
ease the dawn
with a bitter/sweet refrain,
will you teach him the names of the colors
in your nightwings?
