A TRIBUTE TO U THANT

If I were a bird would I want but to walk
Or to stand as idle as breathless time,
Or in apathy to gaze at infinity
As if it would .end if I focused my mind.

If I were to balance the world in my hand
Would I cast it aside in disgust and remorse,
Or would I with patience furrow His fields
While He left it to me not to alter its course.

If I were to die by the sword of a friend
Would I haunt him forever with infinite hate,
Or would I ensure it won't happen again •••
The latter to all, it's already too late.
