i see through you,

In search of a haven I walked
through the concrete jungle of blocks
bordered by lines of cold, hard buildings
and on through a sea of creatures--
sharks, catfish, octopi: mostly villians
intermingled with goldfish and guppies--
all too busy to bother with the lonely,
the lost, the scared; too busy to guide.
Running away from the dirty, screeching,
crowded maze to the sweet green field;
exhaustedly tumbling forward to reach
that final proof of life's rewards,
I stabbed myself with a rose's thorn.
