And what purposes we have. They are differing in content and in scope. We gather into groups for diverse reasons, and affect various and sometimes conflicting outcomes on our environment and OUf But in the end, we gather together so that we can do good things: for ourselves, OUf friends, our neighbors, our planet. We organize ourselves around similar beliefs, convictions, and questions. We want validation, and we want answers. Organizations do not have to be formal. They do not have to have presidents and vice presidents and treasurers, although they often do. But always they have leaders, instigators, pushers, who strive for each member of the group personally, and the organization collectively, to reach his, her, or its goals. Service organizations, religious groups, Greek societies, publication staffs, music groups, art and language clubs, and every other organized group in the WMC community makes a difference everyday on this campus and in this world. These forces are too numerous to count and cannot all be represented on these pages. We have, however, gathered some of the most influential and prestigious organizations which Western Maryland College has to offer and have profiled them here.
