Games Students taking the "History of Commu- Communication nication" class, taught by Victor Caldarola during the Spring semester, had the Simulation opportunity to participate in several games that helped them to understand the uses of communication. One of the games played during class was "Rafa-Rafa." 11was supposed to illustrate the difficulties different cultures experience when they meet one another. Each group learned the rituals of an imaginary culture. One culture was based on trading and money, and the other was based on games and superstition. When one group sent ambassadors to learn the other group's culture there was a possibility of being expelled from the culture they were visiting. Both groups had difficulty understand- ing each other, and many students ended up feeling like the members of the opposite group were weird or stupid. This game was used to teach the class the impor- tance of good communication between different cultures. "J\ -Cheryl Smith new no enc. wOrld 01.'
