For the second consecutive year, the WMC footbatl team started strong but struggled down the stretch to finish 5-5 overall. The 1992 Green Terrors won their first four games, including three in the Centennial Football Conference (CFC), before falling at Randolph-Macon in a non-confer- ence conteste The highlight of the season came the following week, as Dung Dinh's 26-yard field goat with three seconds to play gave WMC a 17-14 Homecoming win over four-time defending CFC champion Dickinson. At 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference, thoughts of a CFC title and a NCAA Division III playoff bid became not so dream- like. However, a rash of injuries to key members of the defense and the offensive line took its toll on the Green Terrors. WMC lost to Franklin & Marshall, Lebanon Valley, Football Breaking Even Swarthmore and Johns Hopkins, in order, to wind up 5-5 and 4-3 in the CFC. In 1991, WMC was 4-1 before losing four straiqhte Tajback Rob Johnson was the Green Terrors' statistical star. The junior set school single-season records for rushing and total touchdowns (18), points (110) and carries (330). His 1,560 rushing yards was just 34 short of the mark set by Eric Frees in 1990.Johnson led a contingent of four Green Terrors named to the CFC All-Star first team. He was joined by senior offensive tackle Paul Picchierri, an honorable-mention pick in 1991; sophomore kicker Dinh, who missed just one point-after attempt all season; and sophomore defensive lineman Adam Gregori, a first-team selection for the second time. Junior linebacker Dennis Walker was the lone WMC representative on the honorable-mention unit The offensive line gets set lor action against the Dickinson Red Devils during the Homecoming game.
