Mat Monsters Although the Green Terror Mat Monsters did not have the most impressive record this year, considerable advances were made in the experience department. Coach Sam Case did a fine job developing the freshmen and continuing the improvement of the veterans. As co-captains, Jim King and Jim Hvidding had the diffi- cult task of keeping team morale at a peak. Their persistence paid off, however, as the Terrors entered every match with a win! attitude. This is sometimes very hard to do, as the memo hers of the soccer team well know. Individual standouts this year included Rick Schmertzler who won ten regular season matches and was voted Most Valu- able Wrestler. Freshman Terry Conover was also impressive as he stepped into a starting position. Jim Hvidding, in his last year of wrestling was another standout for the team. In post- season action, Hvidding, Schmertzler, and Conover took third places in the Mason-Dixon Championships and Schmertzler finished seventh in the National Small College Championships.
