Argonauts Search for truth Borrowing their name and purpose from Greek mythology, the Argonauts continually seek academic achievement, symbolized by the golden fleece. Juniors and seniors acquiring a cumulative average of 2.1 or better, are elected to the society as associate members and in- ducted at a special ceremony in October. One of the main events of the year is the scholarship tea held in February honoring the underclassmen who have the necessary aver- age, but not enough semester hours to become associate members. Another highlight is the spring banquet at which those associates who have completed seven semesters' work with a cumulative average of at least 2.2 are inducted as Fellows. This year, in addition to the in- duction ceremony, the banquet featured Dr. Clarence Long, Johns Hopkins economics pro- fessor, as the key speaker. President Roy Kennedy was assisted in the year's work by Joanne Filbey as vice-president, Beverly Bosworth as secretary, and Robert Don Lowe is welcomed to the Argonauts by President Roy Kennedy as the other officers look on.
