rising at dawn became common practice. The first battery of quizzes came and went, and professors were viewed with mixed emotions. Occupying a prominent part of campus life was the great sport, football. A revitalized Western Maryland football team played with more skill, spirit and success than had been exhibited in the past three seasons. The display of spirit on the field was reinforced by a new surge of enthusiasm from the stands. Then, with a mad rush, Homecoming came. For some it meant the ingenious planning of floats and displays, while others spent their time drilling for performances-athletic or otherwise-on the football field. A sudden awakening among those who had put off rounding up a date, resulted in continuous use of the telephone. Alumni returning on Friday saw the pre- game march on Westminster led by the band, cheerleaders and porn porn girls. The bonfire, blazing on Hoffa Field, warmed spirits as well as hands of the mob. Mixing chaos with culture was the style for the evening. Rooters donned their Sunday best to attend a concert by the Claremont String Quartet, immediately follow- ing the pep rally.
