For all of us at Western Maryland College, there is a tall, stately man who has stood as a personification of the highest ideals in education, both during his twenty- 1I1'O years as professor and department head, and as pro- fessor emeritus since 1941. Now, he has published the first of: a two-volume histor-y 01: our Alma Mater, where he himself has played such a dynamic and fundamental role. Towards this man who has given so much to our institution, whose personality has transcended the lives and ideas of so many, we feel humble in presenting this modest token of our high regard and reverence (or him.
