G, C. ~~~~~~e '2E6~lt~~8:r Gold Bug '27: Honorable "'There's a schooner in the offmg With her topsails shot with fire And my heart has gone aboard her FOT the Island of Desire," AME FATE was indeed gracious to Western Maryland when she trans- D ported this lovely Southern songbird from Georgia, to the Hill. Mannie IS a lover of beauty and nature, a maker of dreams! To know her is to love her. With her sunny smiles, and charming songs she has endeared herself to all, while to her favored friends she has become indespensible. Always a smile and cheery word, always a hearty efficient cooperation in whatever was to be done, she has carved for herself a place on the Hill which cannot be refilled, and in the hearts ofherfriendswhich can never be replaced. Mannie's fondness for Kipling and Service, her love of the sea and all of the great beauties of nature are indicative of her spirit of adventure a~ld her desire to travel. We are sure that some day she will respond to the Spirit that calls and sail to the realization of the "Island of Desire," ~ THE.1!_L..QH!) 19:1.7 "T'_ ~
