DEATH, THE CALMEST SLUMBER
Reaper, come take me from this life
Of corruption, deceit, despair,
And bring me to a calmer sleep,
A life that may be fair.
For I have suffered long and hard--
Struggled through shallow and deep
To find that comfort is not in life,
But in a final, calmer sleep.
I have challenged and lost many trials
As a result of my emotional submission,
Changing my life to suit his constraints--
I have made the final decision.
So, please, grim reaper--take me away
And preserve me far down under,
That I may have peace of mind and heart
Through death, the calmest slumber.
